Stuff
So here is my mini dilemma, about college of course!

the three schools... all have, in general, pros, cons and uncertains....

+ = pro
- = con
? = uncertainty

Michigan state university
+ already got in
+ okay school
+ range of things to do with degree seem to have more variety
? okay area
? what will i do there?
- money

University of michigan
+ great school
+ great area
+ range of things to do with degree seem to have more variety
- don't think I'll get in
- money
? may get scholarship for school of art

College for creative studies
+ awesome school
+ awesome programs
+ good chance for scholarships
+ will most likely get in
- not favorable area
- money
? what will I do there?
? range of things to do with degree seem to be more limited

I AM AT LOSS OF WHAT TO DO so i guess all i can do is wait it out... T_T

Stuff
So I've actually been wanting to make a journal entry out of boredom, just for fecal matter and hilarity, but now I actually have something to update about. Sort of.

More so a problem though haha, well. The school I'm applying to at U of M requires 3 social studies credits and I Thought it was just two...... so I took 2.5 credits of it, which is my school's requirement and thought it was fine but NOOOO IT'S THREE CREDITS D:

(three requried for the college, not for my school)

fuck you social sciences, I hate you. History, economics, government, NOTHING GOOD.
Well, some eras of history I like, but I've just never had a good experience in the educational environment regarding social sciences. U_U that's why I don't like it.

WELLLLLLL so seeing as I need half a credit, at least it's not a whole credit.... there might be a chance of me being able to fill in that missing half credit next semester, I've speculated. All of my classes thus far are full year courses:

AP Bio
AP Lit
AP Art
AP French
PDM
Anatomy

dropping the first two are out of the question; dropping Art wouldn't be bad, actually, but I really want to continue taking it. PDM has to stay there, anatomy I could take it but I would be so devastated if I had to drop it because second semester is the actual dissection period. U_U

I leave AP French for last because that might be my window of opportunity.... Right now I have to take AP French 5 at another school in my district, with three other people. We've realized it's not working, plus one student HAS to take AP french via dual enrollment. So, me and my friend (~babypika31 actually) have decided to dual enroll as well. So we'd take the class at night and have a free hour during school.

That is when, I believe, I might be able to make up for the half credit.... however idk if they'll let me do that seeing as I'd get like more credits or something idk how it works. I'm only supposed to have six technically.

But yeah... haven't talked to my counselor about this yet but I'm hoping she gets to me ASAP because this is the university I really want to go to. U_U

aaaaanyway.

sup with you guys?

life has been made today

For the month anyway. : D

So I knew this new place downtown opened called the Dessert Oasis. persuaded kelly and jess to go there to check it out since I knew they were a cafe and had desserts... went in and it was awesome; tables had sheet music like... modgepodged on or something, there was an neon electric guitar on the ceiling (like.. huge) and the place in general was very cute and cozy, sofas, and a corner for open mic. the owners were very nice, and we bought some cheesecake and it was delightful. I talked to the manager and he told me about high school and open mic nights so we could perform if we wanted (its not a very busy place yet, since it just opened and everything a few weeks ago).

The other thing that made me even happier was the fact that we could basically donate our art to them and they'll put it up on the walls and if we want, put a price on them and maybe someone would be interested in it. I highly doubt people would actually buy any of my stuff (a few paintings, two aren't on dA) but just the fact our art is in there makes me ecstatic. The owners are such nice people, and we also got free samples.

So how goes things?
College applications are like.... half done.. sdfsdffsdfsdf

i've taken to textually ranting so here are some thoughts if anyone wants to have a read.

mostly about art and trying.

a. So in my Lit class, we’re in groups assigned to different elements such as theme, point of view, character… so my group is Language and Style and I was so happy that I got that. We read short stories, present stuff on them, blah blah… but I realized that I really really do love language and style, it’s the number one thing I pay attention to in writing; how things are described, what order, what words are being used, any metaphors and similes (referencing body parts is a major plus). Some people don’t pay attention to it at all and concentrate only on what’s happening and who the characters are, and some hate stories that seemingly have no plot. Maybe a story has no plot but has rich imagery and shit to make up for it. I love things that are about absolutely nothing, or on one little detail blown up to seem more important than the entire world. It just seems so real and candid, that one thing nobody notices. A passage could be all about a box. So what about a box? There’s nothing cool about it, but really it has so much potential to tell a whole story. I think my love for this kind of thing comes from observation in art. Artists are often trained in the art of taking in what you see, replicating it with some kind of means as accurate or abstractly as possible. In order to do hat, you must scrutinize everything; the values, the shapes, the angles the thing makes with something else, the shapes of the negative spaces, etc. Every detail counts.

b. Maybe I’ll explain my absolute love for body parts. I really love body parts. I don’t care what it is; hands, ears, toes, necks, eyeballs, tracheas, intestines, kidneys, veins. Seeing them, hearing about them, reading about them, drawing them, writing about them, all of those things make me sooooo. Happy. (lawl) but srs, it’s incredible how much is in your body. I don’t understand how anyone can possibly be bored inthis world. There are just so many things to do and learn, how does anyone have time to be bored anymore in this age? But anyway, the body is just a little universe and each organ is like amazing. Maybe I’m a bio geek, but.. really. And they look freakin sweet too. Maybe I like them because they’re… there. Tangible. They are the things that make us up as people. Sure, the clothes we wear, the music we listen to, the thing that that one person does that you really hate… but you’re really physically made up of all that shit. They’re the closest things you’ll ever have to you, and they’re very valuable. (Sure you could afford to lose a finger, and there are people who live with a lack of –or excess- of them and other parts, but I’m sorry, I really do value my finger.)

c. I really hate when people cannot accept criticism or a new idea. They think whatever they have there is right and fine. Ever thought of doing something else? Why hole yourself up like that? You like this style? Why can’t you branch out to something else? Oh, because you REALLY like this style and it’s what you like doing, and you could switch to something else very easily? Show me.
But you never see them show you. They just show you stuff that they’re comfortable doing, because they like doing it. Booooring. Have some variety. Like, please.
I mean.. I’m that way too. I draw things the way they are sometimes because I like how it looks. Completely understandable, everyone does. But hell it isn’t the only thing I do. I like to draw anime- it’s not my favorite style but I like it, so I’ll draw huge animu eyes once in a while. BUT COME ON THERE IS MORE THAN FUCKING ANIME
And god do I hate it when people think they can get away with just anime in an art portfolio. I mean. I’m sorry. But it just doesn’t work unless you happen to be God, idk. Maybe it’s happened, it probably has; those super creative, imaginative types. But you can’t deny the fact that whatever anime style you happen to have, that you tweaked to be different, to be your own style.. IS NOT YOUR OWN STYLE. Hardly anything in this world is original anymore because all the ideas are taken from other things. Fuck no that isn’t a bad thing, but anime just happens to be one of the worse examples. Yes there are several different styles; You can certainly tell the differences between, say, Fruits Basket and Inuyasha. Duh. But see.. when a kid does it, maybe it looks good, but there’s just too much of a strong influence from that kind of art. IDK does anyone get what I’m saying? I’m not trying to bash anime in anyway… but a portfolio it’s just not the right place for it.

d. Okay, so people can get lazy. I get super lazy. BUT LAZINESS IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR SOMETHING YOU ARE NOT GOOD AT. My god people have to understand that if you want to get good at something, you have to actually do it. No one except for like .0001% of the population are automatically good at something. Don’t throw those “BUT THAT ONE TWO YEAR OLD CAN OUTPLAY MOZART-“ shit, because I already know about those people and I’ll say, wow that’s incredible. I can safely say, however, you’re not that person and neither am I.
I’ve never played guitar. Sure I’ve strummed the strings a few times, held down on the what, fretboard? (see I don’t even know what it’s called) a couple times to see where some notes are. But just because I have a fricken sweet guitar in my hand doesn’t mean I’m a guitar player. You’ve got to actually learn to, you know, play it.
And no, you will not become a master of, say, drawing, if you don’t draw. The only reason anyone sucks at drawing is if they never draw in the first place. You only suck if you don’t try, seriously. You’ll always hear, “UGH, I hate drawing still life.. I suck.. I’ll draw something else instead.” Those are the very words and actions that are hindering your progress. (In my AP art class, there are very talented people, and this is a fact, but half the time, I feel like I am the only one who ever takes art seriously and gives it a little more than 100%, and I’m not even going into an art field.) You can’t put down the pencil and think you’ll be able to draw a near perfect vase of flowers after ten minutes. The only way you get good is by practicing.
I love watercolor paintings. I love how fluid and light the atmosphere of watercolor is. It just looks so free and nice. But damn do I hate using it. I admit it, I do suck at using it. It’s hard for me to apply colors where I want them, hard for me to control this light substance, hard for me because I’m just to used to acrylic.
AND THAT’S THE THING. It’s often hard for people to do something because they’re not used to doing it, that’s a DUH fact. I know I am not that great at using watercolor because I’ve had so little practice in it. I don’t get the chance to often, I don’t have watercolors at hand all the time. But if I do have it, I’ll use them to see what I can do. So please, kids, please just fucking try.

e. Also I hate it when people have lax expectations and standards or poor work ethic or something. If you want something accomplished, you have to get off your damn ass and work for it. Sometimes I don’t get the idea of “that’s good enough” either. Maybe after a long damn time of trying to get something right, something good, something that is of my best potential. What’s the point of producing halfassed stuff?
Well, unfortunately I produce half assed stuff all the time. I work slowly, okay. It takes me hours to sketch something. Paintings, I feel like, need so many hours of my time. And this could go for everyone. So every now and then, a “this is good enough” pops out after just so much perseverance on trying to get something to be how you want.
But perfection can be a terrible thing, oh yes. I’ve read all about it, plus more I haven’t read. Perfection eats away at people and perfection doesn’t get things done. But would it kill you to put in a little more effort?
I read an article about how the happiest people are people who are the ‘good enough’ people. I agree. People who have the idea of perfection in their minds are never satisfied. But I can admire them so much more sometimes because they’ve got a goal in mind and the will to pursue it.

tldr; tits.

weird places you sleep in/have slept in

Journal Entry: Fri Aug 28, 2009, 11:02 AM
My cat was sleeping in our laundry basket again, not weird, but just incredibly cute.

He sleeps in my cello case occasionally when I have it open on the floor. Not good because he sheds. A shit load.

He also sometimes curls up at the bottom of some really long curtains we have. : D

Me.. I've slept in a walk in closet, on the stairs (when I was like 3), under a desk... etc.

Okay so they're not that weird but, idk. How about you guys? Anyone?

SO BUSY WITH SUMMER SCHOOL WORK T_T sdkfjgh
I have a couple traditional pieces finished but they're absolutely atrocious. U_U
I'm back at 4000 deviations in my devwatch. Again. Took about 2 months for 2K deviations to fill up, which is 1K a month, which is about 250 a week, which is like 35 or something per day. Ish.

I almost lost my silver flower a couple days ago, too, it got swept off my desk into my trash and I didn't notice until later that night when I was looking for it. I realized the possibility that it could be taken out of the trash since the following day was garbage day so I made my mom open up our big garbage bin to look for it and voila.
